UPRA creates its discussion forum on February 8, 2007
The forum (which you can visit via the ''Forum'' link above) was born February 8, 2007, leading to the first simultaneous marches against puppy mills in Montréal and Québec City.
Two days after the march, the committee was created...
On April 19, 2007, the nomination of the members of the organizing committee was publicly announced. Thereafter, the UPRA members had the chance to approve said committee.
The website and the first events...
Then followed the creation of the UPRA.ca website. We had to inform and bring awareness. Once the logo was selected, UPRA was invited to give their first telephone interview on CHOI 98.1. The topic? The harm of puppy mills and the advantages of choosing an ethical breeder. Then came the first executive meeting, immediately followed by a kiosk to raise puppy mill awareness, for three days at the end of May, in collaboration with Sortie de Chien. Since then, UPRA tries to actively participate in all canine events, breeders' shows, meetings, as well as events organized by groups having a similar vision to UPRA, thereby aiming for a better future for animal companions.
